Create One Great Habit A Month And Have A Great Year!

BAM! Be A Man. Not An Act But A Habit.

Guess what? Changing your life for the better by changing your habits is important and needed by just each and every one of us. But creating better habits for yourself does not mean that you need to change up your entire life overnight or in just one day.

You don’t need to have 100 good habits to make your life better. Changing or creating just 12 habits can be more than enough to completely turn your life around.

You do not need to wait for a new year to start. You can start your 12 Month Habit rotation in any month of the year. Yes, it is probably true that the best time to start was last year, but the next best time to start is right now!

Of course, choosing productive, effective and beneficial habits is paramount to your success. The right habits can put your achievements and success on like you are on autopilot. If you’re doing the right things each and every day, the right things and good things will start to happen for you. It’s as certain as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west..

Use This Process To Enhance Your Life One Habit At A Time:

1. Know Your Goals.

What do you want? You can not choose the best habits to add to your life without knowing your goals. The best habits support your goals and make them much more likely to come to fruition. Make a list of your goals and prioritize them.

2. Make Your List Of All The Habits That Would Aid In Reaching Your Goals.

Take a look at your most important goals and consider all of the habits that would help you to reach those goals. List every possible habit that you can think of no matter how small it might be. This is brainstorming. We are not judging them yet, so list them all no matter how trivial they might seem to you.

3. Now, Prioritize Those Habits.

Some habits are will be far more effective than others. Go over your list of habits and put them in order from the most effective to the least effective. Take as much time to do this as you need. Be honest with yourself. And yes, the most effective actions are often the least enjoyable. You need to break the egg to make the omelet.

  • Choose the 12 habits that will make the biggest impact in your life over the next year. Make sure that you have these 12 habits in a logical order that makes sense for you.
4. Make Your Plan.

Start with the first habit and develop a plan for how you can implement it in 30 days. Let’s suppose that your first goal is to go to the gym each day for 45 minutes and alternate days between cardio and lifting weights. You might decide to proceed this way:

  • Day 1. Find a gym close to the house that is convenient for me and affordable.
  • Days 2-7. Go to the gym for at least 15 minutes. I’ll let myself do whatever I want when I get there.
  • Days 8-14. Go to the gym for at least 25 mins. At least half of that time must be spent on cardio.
  • And so on.

Make incremental increases every few days. Just be sure to be at full speed by day 30.

5. Start With Only One Goal.

Keep your plan to one goal. It might seem more effective and much faster to put all the habits into action at once, but it works better, and the results are more long-lasting to do it one at a time. Twelve good habits over the course of a year are life changing.

6. Put All Of Your Energy And Focus On That One Goal.

That one goal must be a huge priority to you. If the goal is not that important to you then go back to step one and rethink your goals. This is your life you’re talking about. Be 100% determined to be successful this time.

7. Do It Daily.

Daily actions are easier to turn into habits than the things that you would only do a few times a week. Take action each and every day.

8. Plan Around Your Energy Levels.

People often plan their time without considering their energy levels. For example, going to the gym in the morning is either much better or worse than going to the gym in the evening for you. Everyone is different.

Plan your time for when you will do things, but plan them around the time when you are at your best energy levels during the day.

9. Keep Your Eye On The Big Picture.

These habits might not be enjoyable in the short term. You will need to make some sacrifices now. However, if you keep your attention on the benefits you’ll gain, it will make things easier. There is no long-term gain without some sacrifices made in the here and now.

10. Track Your Results.

Track your results. Keep a log or a journal. You might be tracking pounds of body weight, dollars in your bank account, push-ups you do each day, or hours of piano practice. Tracking your results is motivating. Good results will obviously motivate you. However, the not so good results should motivate you as well.

You know that you can do better. You know that you can be better. You got this. You can do this.

After each 30 days, using the steps above, add another habit. Keep going until you’ve successfully added all 12 to your routine. Just 12 “new” habits will make a huge difference to your life. Instead of trying to change everything about your life at once, try tackling life one habit at a time. Which habit will you choose?

Guess what else? Since your will be on such a great streak, after the first 12 months are under your belt, start over with a new set of goals and the habits that you need to achieve them. Regardless of the level of success that we may have achieved, we should always be striving to improve ourselves and to be better.

NOTE: If breaking in and incorporating one new habit per per month to your routine is too much, no problem. We do want to challenge ourselves, yes, but, like any goal, keeping it just out of reach, but attainable with effort is what we are after.

So, if you need to, stretch the exercise over two months for 6 new habits per year. Whether it be 6 new great habits or 12 of them, at the end of the year you will be better off than most people, and more importantly, you will be much better off than you were when you started. Imagine it!

Conclusion

Changing your life for the better is possible once you know what you want and you know what needs to be changed or added to your routine. Set your goals. Figure out and sort out the habits that you need to get you to your goals and start adding them to your life.

Add your habits to your routine, one by one every month (or, one new habit every two months), over the course of the next 12 months. At the end of the 12 months, look back and see how far you have come and how much more that you have accomplished.

Consciously adding good habits and changing out the bad habits in your life and working them each and every day is going to be the only way to achieve the success that you seek. As in most things in life, the choice is yours to make. Choose wisely.
