YOUR Lifestyle Choices Are YOUR Key With Type 2 Diabetes

BAM! Be A Man. Man Choosing.

There are many things in life that we have no control over. Things happen that can affect us that we have no way of being able to avoid or otherwise circumvent. It is a fact of life that life can be hard and hard for no apparent reason. The fact that life can be hard may not be fair. But no one said that life is fair or will be easy. At least no one told me this.

“Be Prepared”

This is why it is so important for us to be as ready as possible for anything. Be prepared is not just a motto for the Boy Scouts. it is a motto for life in general. And this is why it is so incredibly important that we do the things that we can to prepare and better our lives that we can actually do and make some difference about.

If we are not actively doing the things to be prepared and to be better, we run the risk that some action or event can simply wipe us out.

The Only “Sure Things” In Life Are…

For our health and well being, this is why it is so important that we make the proper lifestyle choices. We do not life forever. Our own death is inevitable. We cannot avoid this fact. The old saying may be cliche but the truth of it is no less there: “The only sure things in life are death and taxes.” But there are things that you can do to at least improve your odds and better your chances to be able to live a healthy and productive life.

According to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, about 90% of cases of Type 2 Diabetes are caused by lifestyle choices, thus making most cases of diabetes entirely avoidable.

Diabetes can start from the bad choices that you make. But that also means you can lower your risk of developing this condition by making lifestyle choices and changes and you can possibly reverse a Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis with those lifestyle changes.

Lifestyle Choices That You Must Consider For Your Health

Choose A Better Diet

Perhaps the most significant lifestyle factor that influences your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes is your diet. In fact, the World Health Organization states that people classified as “obese” or “overweight” make up about 90% of all type 2 Diabetes cases.

While a healthy diet can help to reduce your risk of insulin resistance or Type 2 Diabetes, an unhealthy diet leads to a skyrocketing risk. A study published in PLOS Medicine was looking to discover just that: Which parts of the average American diet are most likely to increase the risk of Type 2 Diabetes.

The study found that a diet full of processed foods, low quality carbs, refined grains, sugar and sugar filled foods, greatly increase the risk of obesity and a Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis. On the contrary, a diet that includes plant foods, particularly whole grains, fruits, and vegetables and low carb healthy carb choices is linked to an overall lower risk of Type 2 Diabetes.

Choose To Exercise

Exercise can help to improve your physique and self-confidence, but perhaps the greatest benefit is the role it plays in muscle mass and weight loss. Adequate exercise is a huge lifestyle factor in an eventual Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis, as the Department of Health & Human Services states that fewer than 5% of Americans get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day.

The link between exercise and diabetes risk is well-studied, particularly among researchers in diabetes specialization. That’s exactly what a study published in Diabetes Care was looking to discover, particularly how a lack of exercise can impact the risk.

The study found that aerobic training is most significant for overall health, aiding the body with insulin sensitivity, lowering the risk of heart disease, and improving blood flow throughout the body. In addition, exercise can help with blood glucose control, blood pressure, and cholesterol, all issues commonly seen in those with type 2 Diabetes.

Choose To Sleep Well

Interestingly enough, sleep also plays a vital role in your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes within your lifetime. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention found that getting fewer than the recommended 7 hours of sleep increases the risk of developing several health conditions, such as diabetes, cancer, and stroke.

In a study published in Diabetes Care, scientists were looking to determine the role that sleep plays on diabetes risk, particularly in relation to the amount of sleep people get per night. The study found that, for every hour of sleep fewer than 7 or 8 hours, your risk of diabetes increases.

The connection between sleep and diabetes is somewhat complicated, but many believe that the link traces back to the role hormones play as you sleep. It’s believed that a lack of insulin and an increase of cortisol causes the increased risk. The body is no longer able to process the insulin as effectively due to these changes, thus elevating the risk of Type 2 Diabetes.

Conclusion – Final Thoughts – Guess What, Bucko…

FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE THE CHOICES ARE YOURS AND ONLY YOURS TO MAKE

If it helps, look at it from a positive side: The fact that many cases of diabetes are caused by lifestyle choices can be seen as good news, as it means there are several things that YOU CAN DO to help lower your risk naturally and relatively easily.

There are many things in life that we just cannot change or do anything about. In too many cases, “it is what it is”. Life is hard and can be unfair. No doubt.

But for the things that we can do something about, we must. It can be considered as criminal if we are not doing the proper things for the betterment of our lives that we are able to do. If you can make changes for the better, changes that are within your power to do something about and as a result have a good and positive affect on your life, why wouldn’t you? Not doing the things that you can do, not making the changes that you can make is not only foolish, it is criminal.

Really, is it too much to ask? No. It is not. Adjusting your lifestyle habits and reducing type 2 Diabetes risk can mean eating a healthy balanced diet that’s low in unhealthy ingredients (excess sugar, fat, salt, flour and too many other processed ingredients), getting 150 minutes of exercise per week, and trying to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep at night. It can be as simple as this.

When you think about it, is it really too much to ask of yourself? No it is not. Make the choice. Commit to yourself and, starting right now, do what you need to do.

No-one says that you need to change everything in one day. But you must be aware. You must be conscious of what you are doing. And day by day, over time, you must make the changes in your life that you need to make.

Be A Man – Do The Right Thing. It’s Your Life. It’s Your Choice. Take Care Of Yourself. Eat Right And Exercise.

BAM!!! Be A Man! Do The Right Thing.

Be the DtRTy Guy!
